Current Projects
The following list of projects are currently directly involved with the post Development Officer for teaching projects.
- Leeds Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) has five participating CETLs including ALiC CETL.
- Active Learning in Computing (ALiC) CETL involves four universities and is led by the University of Durham.
- After Schools Club initiative began in 2005 as a pilot project to introduce pupils attending two local secondary schools to programming. The project also aimed to demonstrate that computing is about more than just PCs.
- National Project Coordinators Network is part of the CETL ALiC and focuses on increasing the level of student engagement within the computing curriculum and making their experiences more relevant to industry.
- Research Internships Project is an internship programme for second years undergraduates to do research over the summer.
- Research into Industry Seminars offers extra-curricular sessions that relate what we do (research-led computer science) to the destinations of the School of Computing graduates (predominantly commerce and industry). The seminar sessions are open to staff, post graduates and undergraduates.
- The BCSWomen Undergraduate Lovelace Colloquium
at Leeds is supporting by the AliC CETL for 2008. The event aims to provide a
forum for undergraduate women to share their ideas and network; to provide a
stimulating series of talks from women in computing, both from academia and
industry; and to provide both formal (talks) and informal (networking) advice
to undergraduate women about careers in computing from a female perspective.
