Eirik: A data navigational tool

This project was funded by AstroGrid VOTech, whose remit was to create prototype tools to help in negotiating the explosion of astronomical data over the past decade. Eirik was built around the R statistical library, with a rather nice Qt interface.

The aim of Eirik was to use a more practical statistical/ordered approach to searching, going from 1D to 2D to 3D etc in terms of both computational complexity and graphical representation. A substantial part of the 1D searching was finished, borrowing Tufte's suggestion of sparklines. Some 2D searching techniques, eg. using mutual information and correlation, are partially implemented (just about enough to be useful). Sources and binaries can be found here.
