Cross-departmental research
Much of the research in the School of Computing is undertaken in collaboration
with researchers in external organisations
and in association with other Schools, departments and research centres
within the University of Leeds. For example:
Mr Eric Atwell's work in the area of natural
language processing includes research on language technology for the teaching
of English. He is a member of the cross-departmental
Language Education Research Group.
The research interests of Dr Les Proll
in computational and modelling aspects of mathematical programming, and
the application of mathematical programming and heuristics to scheduling
and allocation problems has links with the Leeds
Business School.
Dr
Julika Siemer-Matravers' research interests include the development
of Intelligent Tutoring Systems, particularly the problem of error remediation,
and the integration of intelligent tutoring facilities into computer-based
education applications. She co-operates with the Computer
Based Learning Unit in the School of Education.
Dr
Kia Ng is Director of the Interdisciplinary
Centre for Scientific Research in Music (ICSRiM) linking research
in the School of Computing and the School of Music on multimedia and computer
music.
