Research Activity
The School is one of the longest-established research institutes for computing in the country, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2007. In the last Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), the School achieved a grade 5 rating, confirming its status as a leading research institute for computing.
The School conducts research in the foundations of computer science and in a variety of applied and multidisciplinary settings. It has attracted grants from each of the seven UK Research Councils, government departments, the European Union and many industrial sources.
