Research Fellowship & PhD Studentship in Cognitive Vision

We are one of the leading Engineering faculties in the UK, with five academic departments, all of which were rated either 5 or 5* in the 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. Applications are invited for a fixed-term Research Fellowship, to be based in the School of Computing. You will have a primary expertise in computer vision, knowledge representation and reasoning (in particular ontologies, qualitative spatial representations), or symbolic learning and preferably more than one of these. You will join a large and vibrant research team to work on a new European Union Framework 7 Cognitive System funded research project investigating robust behaviour analysis using knowledge representation techniques and machine learning.

The Research Fellowship is for two years (Job ref 312278) and the PhD studentship (Job ref 312279) - (EU or overseas fees): is for three years, depending on satisfactory progression. University Grade 7 (27,466 - 32,796 pounds p.a.) or University Grade 8 (33,779 - 40,335 pounds p.a.) Exact period of contract is dependent on funding. PhD studentships will be paid at the rate of 12,600 pounds in year 1, plus fees (either EU or Overseas rate)
