Craniotomy Model | |
|
Craniotomy is the medical name for the operation of cutting holes in the skull. One reason this might be done is to remove a brain tumour, as in this model. The provided CT scans show the location of the tumour, and from this information you must work out where exactly on the skull to make a hole, and how much skull to remove. The instructions provided with the model itself are comprehensive so this only designed to be a brief overview. The CT scans run at an angle from the forehead back to the nape of the neck. Slices are then taken regularly above this. These slices are shown briefly if you switch to CT led mode. |

The movement tools (Pan, Turn, Roll) work by holding
down the left mouse button and gently moving the mouse. They don«t work if
the pointer is over the skull. A circle appears around the cursor to indicate
this.
If you lose the skull off the sides of the window (Quite possible for those of us who aren't brain surgeons), you can start again by pressing the restore button on the bar beneath the skull, or by simply pressing the browser's refresh button. |
