Image Handling - Pixels and Resolution

The size of an image is partly dependent on the number of pixels in the image. The higher the number of pixels, the higher the resolution. Unfortunately, high resolution images require more space to store.

A typical medical image might have 512x512 pixels, over a quarter of a million.
