| My Roots | I was born in Forfar, Scotland, in 1947, and spent much of my childhood in Edinburgh, going to school at Daniel Stewart's College. |
| My Background | I gained a BSc (1st class hons)
in Mathematics
at University of Edinburgh, and an MSc and PhD in Numerical Analysis at
the University of Dundee. From 1974 to 1987, I worked in the
Computer
Centre at the University of Leicester. Since 1987, I have been in the
School of Computing at the University of Leeds, first as Senior
Lecturer and since 2001 as Professor of Visualization. |
| My Family | I am married to Trish who is a hospital pharmacist, and we have two sons: Malcolm (married to Ashleigh) and Alastair. |
| My Interests | My main interest is trying to improve my golf - and I am a long-time supporter of Dundee United FC. |
