IRIS Explorer Tutorial
This tutorial aims to help you learn IRIS Explorer,
the modular visualization environment developed and
marketed by NAG Ltd. There are three sessions: the
first session gets you started; the second covers more
advanced use, particularly of the render module; the
third session deals with getting external data into IRIS Explorer.
The tutorial was developed for IRIS Explorer 3.0 on Unix and
IRIS Explorer 3.5 on Windows NT 4.0. It was updated in 2002 for
IRIS Explorer 5.0 on both Unix and Windows NT platforms.
The material was originally created by Dr Helen Wright
as an IRIS Showcase presentation, to support the
Visualization masters module in the School of Computer
Studies at the University of Leeds. It was converted
to Web format by Rupert Field, in a project funded
by AGOCG and co-directed by Dr Helen Wright and Dr
Ken Brodlie, in the School of Computer Studies.
Subsequently, the NT versions were developed by Dr Helen Wright,
Mr Christian Petermann and Mr George Sisias at the Department
of Computer Science, University of Hull. Further updating to
version 5.0 was carried out by Jason Wood, University of Leeds.
The tutorial uses frames and is therefore best viewed
using a modern WWW browser.
