Simulation of Ultrasound Guided Needle Insertion Procedures
Derek Magee, Yanong Zhu, David Kessel and Rish Ratnalingam
We have been developing a simulator for ultrasound guided needle insertion procedures, such as biopsies, fluid drainages etc. The purpose of this simulator is for use in the early stages of training of interventional radiologists. Training is conventionally on a "see one - do one - teach one" apprenticeship model. This is increasingly problematic with rising numbers of trainees starting each year.
