Handpumped Tetley's £1.90, very nice!

July 2008
Midnight Bell New Inn, Elland Rd Commercial Inn Queen Hotel, Morley Town Centre
7pm - Midnight Bell - Water Lane, Holbeck. Leeds brewery pub, but with a bit of a wine bar atmosphere. Hopefully the smell of paint has gone by now! Number 51 bus at 19.52 from opposite Bewleys Hotel to... 8pm - The New Inn, 18 Elland Road. Looked to have a couple of beers on, inc. Deuchars IPA (Ignoring the Old Golden Fleece opposite, though I may not have that pleasure) 9pm - The Commerical Inn, 78 Elland Road. 200 yards up the hill from the above. Looked very traditional with coloured glass and pots on the wall etc. Tetley's Cask and Black Sheep were available. 10pm - Queen Hotel, Queen St, Morley Town Centre. A bit of a walk, about 20 mins I'd say. Another trip on the 51/51a which passes about 05/35 for those who can't walk. Strange looking pub, with proliference of advertising of OAP meals. A bit difficult to judge on Saturday lunchtime, but was v.busy. John Smith's Cask at the very least available. Buses back to Leeds at 22.58/23.28 from Morley Town Hall.

A 10 minute stroll away, near to Bramley Baths, on the safer side of Broad Lane. Serving hand pulled John Smiths for 2.10 per pint. Dominoes available when league games aren't taking place. Clean and friendly. Offering an outdoor seating area for those celebrating the recent arrival of the British summer. 9pm- The Acorn, 416 Leeds Bradford Road, LS13 1NS.Another 10 minute walk will bring us to the edge of Bramley Fall Park where ale drinkers will enjoy bitter served through an electricity driven device. Guiness is also offered at a reasonable price. Aga! in the therapeutic clinking of dominoes add to the friendly local atmosphere to be sampled here. 10pm- The Old Vic, 17 Whitecote Hill, LS13 3LB. What a finish! A pleasant bit of perambulation separates The Acorn from this sensational climax. 5 real ales were on offer. 3 of these were sampled by Doss personnel and found to be excellent (Cottage Brewing Company 'Wessex Red', Landlord, Daleside Pride of England, Daleside Old Leg Over, Copper Dragon Challenger IPA). Pool table available (over 14's only allowed on pool table so we can have Dossers dancing on the pool table). Darts, dominoes, space invaders (old style table type machine) and juke box also add to the attraction.

Crown and Anchor, Rodley Sun Inn, Stanningley Jug and Barrel Traveller's Rest, Stanningley
The intrepid reconnaissance brigade (Cheeks, Rodders, Terry* and myself[Carnage Head]) employed a 'dominoes'-based scoring system for these pubs, taking our cue from the game we enjoyed at the Sun Inn.
Those survivors of the 1998 Stanningley (aka Beirut) pub crawl, the most carnageaceous pub crawl I have experienced, will find pub number three of the crawl a blast from the past... I can almost hear those police sirens!

Cardigan Arms Royal Park Hyde Park Chemic Tavern
April and a good turnout post IOM pubcrawl through studentville. From nice no smoking room in Royal Park to Bonfire of Hyde Park with no real ale leads to an early exit to the loverly Chemic.
March 2005
Black Lion George IV Merry Monk Cardigan Arms
March and Kermit arrives late in the now closed down George IV but decides to catch up by downing a pint. Not a bad time for Needers. In the Monk he's challenged to down another and set's a new PB. He then try's again and sets another PB. Onto Cardigan Arms and by now he's on a role and downs a few more but not quite as fast leading to 8 pints in total. Carnage! Rodders is on fire and wins five pool games in a row (?).
February 2005
The Daisy The Old Unicorn The Globe Black Lion
Feb post BUSA recovery pubcrawl. Reasonable turnout finishing in 'locals only' Black Lion. As you should know by now, the last pub of the previous month is the first pub for the next pubcrawl.
January 2005
The Victoria White Horse The Britannia The Daisy
January and another change of pub from the crawl planned. This is beginning to become a regular occurence. Finishing up in The Daisy? Huh?
December 2004
Pig and Whistle The George World's End The Victoria
December and another small gathering made it out. The students too scared to venture out of their known territory. Much money lost on the Connect4 machine. Quality Black Bull Theakstons in the World's End. Third change to planned route with no beer in The Crown we settled for the refurb'd Victoria. Plenty of pubs in Pudsey should keep us going for quite a while.
November 2004
The Old Hall Hotel The New Inn Thornhill Arms Pig and Whistle
With Hunslet pubcrawl the day before only a hardcore posse made it out for the 21st '7th of the month'. Top games evening, Pool, Four a-side table football and Carnage Killer Darts.
October 2004
The Owl The Fleece The Bay Horse The Old Hall Hotel
September 2004
The Horsforth Railway Inn Rodley Barge The Owl
A select crew made it to the first pub on time. Eating fish & chips Alf Tupper style in the beer garden. Waited for the girlies. Twenty minute walk to The Railway along dodgey path by the river. Almost dark by the time we got there. Stung & very thirsty, Rod immediately downed a pint. On a mission as it's his birthday. Nice local ale in the Rodley Barge. Finishing up with game of Killer in The Owl. One pint too many and it all goes a bit Pete Tong.
August 2004
Town Street Tavern Old Kings Arms The Fleece The Horsforth
August, serious carnage pubcrawl starting with strong ale in the tavern. Average of two pints a pub plus optional extra in the Black Horse equals very bladdered. The Horsforth pub is very hazy. At least we get a chance to check it out again next month.
July 2004
Whitelocks Fox and Hound The Queen's Town Street Tavern
More shenanigans in Horsforth after the Hyde Park 5k. Very civilised pubcrawl ending in Town Hall Tavern top quality alehouse run by same people who run the new Arcadia in Headingley. Well worth a visit!
June 2004
Wetherspoons
Shipley PrideRing o' BellsFanny's Alehouse
Whitelocks
A hardcore posse who just can't get enough after Holbeck and Chunder mile, made it just in time for a quick one in Weatherspoons before heading off on the summer 'school' trip to Shipley. Phil & Jo were found in the Shipley Pride along with Romper & Dorothy. Even Deakster made it out from the model village to Fanny's. Nice sitting outside Ring O'Bells in the warm summer air where we had some bonus live entertainment. The Old Bill nicking some 'youths' in the street opposite. Top quality ale in Fanny's before dash or lazy walk back to station for final pint in good old Whitelocks back in Leeds where we debate Doss ratings for this years Doss Trumps.
May 2004
Fox and Newt The George Town Hall Tavern Wetherspoons
A good turnout as it's a Friday. Phil leads us to the Wetherspoons in the station. Yes it is just called Wetherspoons. Fuelled up by cheap beer the lads head to The Cockpit for some head banging action but the girls wimp out to Fruity instead. Needers ends up being very ill having not eaten all day and moving off the beer to VRB's. Stick to beer! Rumour has it there may be a small excursion at the next pubcrawl.
April 2004
The Rising Sun The Queens Highland Fox and Newt
Nice April, pre IoM warmup heading back towards town. Plenty of Beer-racing practice in the Fox & Newt with Raveb and Bendy setting some impressive times. A small hardcore compliment manage a swift one in Nazams.
March 2004
White Horse Maltshovel Nelson Inn The Rising Sun
March and we celebrate a year of 7th of the months! How long can we keep the run going without going to the same pub. By my calculations 7 years! A good turnout as the day after the club dinner. We do time these pubcrawls to perfection. A great crawl with a huge curry carry on of at least 20 people insures maximum carnage.
February 2004
Old Bridge Inn The Ancestor Rose and Crown White Horse
Hail, thunder and lightning in February! All the students were at BUSA but a good turnout of old scroats. Again a bit of a car crawl with a few non-drinkers. (Fat Gra on Detox!) White Horse quality pub to finish in.
January 2004
Abbey Inn Vesper Gate West End House Old Bridge Inn
January, more a car crawl than a pub crawl! Bircho turned up and we all piled into his car to cover the dog leg from the Abbey to the Vesper. Once Elaine had arrived there was plenty of space so we continue the car crawl onto the West End and New Bridge. Good quality ale in the West End!
December 2003
The Dalesman The Bridge Inn The Woodsman Abbey Inn
A quick warm up in the Dalesman before a two sitting Christmas Lunch. Very messy, having spent most of the afternoon in The Bridge we eventually ventured onto The Woodsman. Then the long drunken walk in the cold dark to the Abbey Inn where we made it in time for the quiz. Somewhere along the way we lost our brains and didn't come close to winning.
November 2003
Three Horseshoes Woodies Ale House The Stables The Dalesman
October 2004
Bricklayers Arms Hyde Park Pub Original Oak Three Horseshoes
Back at the Brickies, poor turnout as lots of people at training. On to Hyde Park where the runners arrived. Colpus surprised at the changed Oak with no hand pulled ale. Had to settle for smoothflow crap. Back in my day blah, blah, blah. 3 Horseshoes quality cheap Tetleys. On target for December to reach The Bridge to fit in with Post Relays Sunday Lunch.
September 2003
The Templar The Londonner Beer Exchange Bricklayers Arms
September and a good crowd for Rod's Birthday. Muppet Gra seemed to be following a different crawl sheet supplied by Shane. Even after being told repeatedly the next pub was the Londoner; Gra, who was giving Rach directions in the car somehow ended up at the Rifleman instead. They only worked out they were in the wrong pub when we phoned to say we were in the beer garden and there was no beer garden in there pub. Moral of the story, always walk a pubcrawl and know what pubcrawl you are on! After all the effort to get to Brickies in time for the quiz there was no quiz. Oh well good excuse to spend some quality time in the Brickies.....
August 2003
The Regent The Wrens The Reliance The Templar
August and back to the Regent where the price of a pint had increased by 3p! Popped into City of Margate a shadow of it's former self for an intermediate. Good Tetley's Mild in the Templar, one of the few places in Leeds where you can still get it.
July 2003
The Grove Scarborough Arms Prince of Wales The Regent
July and back at the Grove sober for once. Delightful Deulchers Ale, so good in fact a few managed four pints of the stuff. Well organised crawl by Elaine ensured maximum drinking time with little effort between pubs. More scrumptous ales in the Scarborough and Prince of Wales, finishing off with a classic pint of Tetley's in The Regent.
June 2003
Golden Lion HOLBECK PUBCRAWL The Grove
Following on from the slightly dismal May pubcrawl was Holbeck which was a great success. Good turnout post-Chunder Mile with Alehouse's Manuel trying to impress all with his downing and re-downing abilities. Good drinking form with everyone doing the optional extra.
May 2003
Palace Adelphi The Junction Golden Lion
Kermit and Rod after some argument have decided that the best way to reach the Golden Lion is via the Adelphi and The Junction. This proved to be a bad decision as The Junction was waiting for delivery of proper beer so we had to settle for Guinness.
April 2004
FAB Cafe Angel Inn Horse and Trumpet Palace
A plan was hatched in the FAB to make it to the start of the Holbeck pubcrawl in time for the 7th June. Graham organised the second pubcrawl to set us on are way towards Holbeck. There was still a reasonable turnout even though term had finished. Good Samuel Smiths ale in the Angel Inn.
March 2003
The Fenton Dry Dock The Coburg FAB Cafe
The first seventh of the month pubcrawl was well attended as it included Kermits birthday celebrations, with a good mix of Dossers young and old. There wasn't much real ale drunk but it's early days and there'll b'ample opportunity in the future.
