By Train
Leeds is easily accessible by train. See the National Rail website for information on train times and fares. -
By Car
Leeds is linked to the major motorways M1 and M62. See "Leeds by car" for more details. No arrangements have been made for car parking. We strongly recommend that delegates make use of public transport. -
By Air
From outside the UK, flights to Leeds/Bradford Airport are available from many European cities. The airport is seven miles from the university (taxis around £15). The "MetroConnect 757" bus runs to Leeds train station (every 30 mins, around £2). Additional flights are available via Manchester Airport, around 1.5 hours away by a direct train (around £20).
Travelling to the Conference Venue
BMVC will be held at the main University of Leeds campus on Woodhouse Lane. This is around 20 minutes walk from Leeds City railway station, or a 10 minute taxi ride (cost around £6). See Google Maps for directions.
Leeds has a free city bus which circles the city centre via the train station and bus station between 6.30am and 7.30pm. Details are here: Free City Bus leaflet. If you catch this bus and get off at stop number 8 (marked "University of Leeds"), the main conference venue (The Worsley Building) is just behind you - enter and go up to Level 7.
Residential Delegates
Accommodation for residential delegates attending the main conference will be in the Henry Price student residence. This is located on Clarendon Road, and shown as "Accommodation" (3) on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
Accommodation for residential delegates attending the THEMIS2008 workshop only (arriving 4th September-) will be in the Ellerslie Hall student residence. This is located on Lyddon Terrace, and shown as "THEMIS Accom." on the campus map (PDF, GIF).

Locations are as follows:
- Accommodation is marked as "Accommodation" (3) on the campus map (PDF, GIF). The check in desk is located in Block C, in the middle of the building's length.
- Security Office is located at the main entrance to the university on Woodhouse Lane, marked as "Main Entrance" on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
- THEMIS Accommodation is marked as "THEMIS Accom." on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
- Registration Desk is at the main conference venue in the Worsley Building, marked as "Talks/Posters" (6) on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
There will be signs around the university directing you to these locations.
Check out
Delegates must check out of their accommodation by 10am on their day of departure. There will be facilities for luggage storage at the main conference venue, marked as "Talks/Posters" (6) on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
Breakfast
Breakfast from Mon 01-Sep-08 onwards will be available from 7.30am in the Refectory, marked as "Lunch" (4) on the campus map (PDF, GIF). Delegates will need to present either their badge (provided at the registration desk) or their room key.
Breakfast on Sun 31-Aug-08 and Sat 06-Sep-08 will be provided in the accommodation.
Registration Desk
The registration desk will be located in the main conference venue, marked as "Talks/Posters" (6) on the campus map (PDF, GIF).
The registration desk will be manned 9am-6pm from Monday 01-Sep-08 onwards. Delegates can check in to their accommodation without registering. Delegates arriving outside these hours are asked to register at their convenience the next morning.
Drinks Reception
Delegates arriving on Monday evening may prefer to go directly to the drinks reception. This will take place from 7pm in the Parkinson Building at the main entrance to the university, marked as "Reception" (1) on the campus map (PDF, GIF). A buffet meal will be provided.
