After School Computing Club: Tetris Resources

This website includes links to a total of 8 sessions which currently constitutes the after school computing club activity. Between October and December 2005, these sessions were piloted in two Leeds schools, Horsforth School and Derek Fatchett City Learning Centre. The pilot clubs included the lead teachers altering the format and presentation of individuals sessions to their own specification. Using their modifications we have revised the original sessions and made the improved resources available here. It is our expectation that individual teachers will further adapt/amend these materials to their own specification and this may include combining and/or splitting the 8 sessions. If you do amend the materials and find an effective alternative format, we would be pleased to add your new resources to this central website.

Each of the pilot sessions has been run in school with the additional support of at least two volunteer mentors who are current School of Computing undergraduate students. The students provide technical assistance with the programming element of the club activity.

The resources available include a Toolkit to download the necessary software, handouts for students, program files for each session which they can edit, and information about compiling the program and downloading it to the web and/or a compatible mobile phone.

Here are the resources for the individual sessions:

The pilot clubs have involved 25 pupils from Years 8 and 9. Examples of their games and evaluation comments can be seen by clicking on the following links:
